Completed 'Parents' Video | Test | Parents | Adaption A | Year 2
This is the full test for the 'Things Your Parents Don't Tell You'. I'm aware that at the start I've put 'doesn't tell you' so this will be changed asap. This was to get a feel of timings and to make sure that transitions and animations work well and that there are no 'glitches'.
There are a few 'dead' seconds in the piece, which I think I'll fill with some extra images. As a whole I think it looks good and works well.

Fact #5 | Test Video | Parents | Adaption A | Year 2
This is the test for fact #5 from 'Things Your Parents Doesn't Tell You'. I'm a lot happier with the look and feel of the animation in this clip. As I'm working on this video I feel that I'm learning more and more about After Effects and becoming more confident as I go along. Once I have finished the tests for the whole video, I may tweak the animation to ensure that the standard is the same throughout.

This is fact #6 from 'Things Your Parents Doesn't Tell You'. This is the basic animation test and obviously things will need fine tuning for the final piece but right now its sole purpose is to help me with font and image placement. The timings included may change once backing music is added.

End Sequence Test | After Effects | Adaption A | Year 2
To keep up the theme of a mini 'web series', I've created this short ending for the 2 videos. Most web series on the internet have something similar or along these lines. This is just a test piece so I might change some of the transitions as I'm not happy with some of the effects I've added to the font. I also plan to add something else to this sequence as it feels quite plain. This may be a logo, a moving background or extra imagery.

Video Infographic Research | Adaption A | Videos | Year 2
As I'm not really sure in which direction to take my Adaption A project, I thought that I should do some research on video infographics for my top 3 ideas.
When researching about health, doctors and nurses to help "Things your doctor doesn't tell you", it brought up some interesting videos during my searches. A lot of different stances were taken. From the way they were delivering the facts and the statistics used, to the colour schemes and if voice overs were used or not. From what I found, I could see no clear pattern in style.
After looking into these health related videos, I found that one of my originally discarded ideas - "Things your body doesn't tell you" could just be health related facts such as "on average your body needs x amount of sleep", "on average your heart pumps x amount of times per day", to more serious stances such as "do you realise what happens to your body when you have an unbalanced diet?" or "cuts and burns can be serious". This idea definitely needs more thought but could also be interchanged with "Things your doctor doesn't tell you".
Next, I looked into infographics about parents. These were much harder to find but the language used in them was friendly for people of all ages, not just the parents. Some had a comic like quality to them which tried to make them appealing for all the family (food infographic) whereas others took on a more serious tone. The colour schemes were spilt between bright and colourful tones and some were muted colours. These reflected on the tonality of the piece.
I also found some other interesting infographics which I will also post below. As a general rule, they all appear to be made with bright and colourful tones, rely on fonts and typefaces and they all have a cartoon-esque appeal. Some were more reliant on computer based transitions to move between points were as some others seemed to flow continuously throughout.
I think the next step is to find 2 different approaches for each of my top ideas (a comic version and a more serious one) and I will then try to back each one up with some points and statistics. I'll see which one has the most potential before I draft up a rough script. I also plan to look into typefaces and font as I believe this to be a main factor in a successful and engaging infographic. All of my images will be drawn up using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and then, depending on my chosen style, I will either create the final piece in Adobe After Effects or Premiere Pro (possibly even a mix of the 2 programs)

Batch Render Test | Door Opening | Render | Fantastic Voyage
Batch Render Test | Door Opening | My Science Project from Beckie Ryan on Vimeo.
This was a test run for batch rendering my animation. This is the opening scene from the pre-viz as the lights and positing are identical to how this scene is laid out in the final scene.
Overall the lighting looks good but I think that I need to find a way to light the stage area a little more with the ambient light.
Frame 184 is missing (un-rendered for some reason) so there is a slight glitch in the animation but this will be resolved for the final piece.

Sign, Render and Movement Testing | Playblast | Maya | Fantastic Voyage

This is an incomplete playblast of my pre-viz. This was to test the signs, render quality and movement of the objects and signs within the piece.
All of the pieces shown have had their UVs created and basic textures applied. I applied a slightly different top layer to the 'warden tower' which gives it more of a 'painted on cardboard' effect. I think for the final animation, I will apply this texture top layer to all of the pieces to give it more of a realistic look.

Pre-Viz Playblast Test | Maya | Fantastic Voyage

This is my playblast/render test for the opening sequence. This is the introduction for "My Science Project". My set now features a 'cardboard curtain' to hide some of the pieces out of view and helps to draw the audience in further, The sign will say "how the body fights infection" although I'm not sure if the chain that is featured on it fits with the cardboard childish aspect and I'm wondering if this should be string instead.

To help with the process of making my animation, I decided to make a real life version as was advised in my feedback from several tutors. This is a time lapse video of me and my dad making it with a few alterations to my original design to mimic a child and their parent making it. I will take some photos of the final piece once I've added in the backdrop and moving parts etc.

Art Style and Influences | Fantastic Voyage
I've been exploring into Hattie Newman's work and her use of layering her sets to create a 3D piece out of 2D components. What I would like to do is take this aspect and try to place in some influences from classic Disney pieces like Dumbo, Robin Hood and Fantasia and try to incorporate it into Hattie's style to try and create a documentary that tells the story of how the body becomes immune to infection. This will be done in a papercut style but first I want to explore further into how the story will unfold and the science behind it.
